St Ann's Well Academy celebrates after Ofsted confirm it continues to be a 'Good' school

1st March 2018

St Ann's Well Academy, has been told it has "maintained the good quality of education" since the last inspection in 2014.

The school, which was formerly known as St Ann’s Well Primary School, joined the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust in 2011. The inspection team reported that:

  • The leadership team have created a culture where all feel valued and are keen to succeed.
  • Trust leaders have an accurate understanding of the school’s strengths and weaknesses and use this to provide valuable support to all aspects of the school’s work.
  • Pupils are happy and safe. They recognise that their teachers want them to do well and work hard.
  • Teachers plan activities which meet pupils’ different needs and abilities. The most able pupils are sufficiently challenged, and the least able are effectively supported.
  • There has been a significant refurbishment throughout the early years area, including outdoors. Leaders have maximised opportunities both inside and in the outdoor area to promote reading and writing.
  • The improvements in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment are beginning to reap benefits, and more pupils are working towards these standards.

Head teacher Emma Thorne, said: “We are delighted with the outcome of our short inspection and pleased Ofsted have recognised that St Ann’s Well Academy continues to be a good school. We are particularly encouraged that the leadership and management provided by staff in the school and within L.E.A.D. Academy Trust is identified as a key strength throughout.”
