Well Done to Sycamore Academy - L.E.A.D. Academy Trust

Well Done to Sycamore Academy

9th January 2015

Congratulations to Sycamore Academy, regarding their recent Ofsted inspection (19th and 20th November 2014).  The school is judged to be good in all areas, which is a great achievement.

The report recognised the strength of the school’s leadership and the rapid progress that the school continues to make and sustain for the benefit of its pupils.  Progress is good throughout the school and this is contributing to raising attainment levels.

All staff are fully committed to the on-going success of the school and the pivotal role that Teaching Assistants make to pupil learning is a key feature in supporting the needs of our pupils.  Governors are very supportive of the school and are now keen to extend their knowledge and experience to drive forward high-level future impact.  The school’s extensive and broad curriculum caters well for the needs of its pupils.  Pupils have good attitudes, enjoy learning, feel safe and behave well.

The academy continues to improve and is now looking forward to the challenge of moving from good to outstanding.

Here is a small sample of quotes from the report:

‘Leaders have made good use of the expertise available through the Academy Trust, for example, to help develop teaching and learning, and to improve the reliability of teachers’ assessments.’

‘The Academy Trust has provided the academy with good support, for example in developing subject leadership and effective approaches to assessment and systems for financial management.’

‘Teachers’ sharp focus on supporting pupils’ reading has been supported by successful strategies to involve more parents and carers in listening to their children read at home.’

‘The governing body is very supportive and keen to ensure that the academy continues to improve.’

‘The behaviour of pupils is good.’

‘Good and better teaching ensures that all groups of pupils make good progress and achieve well in reading, writing and mathematics.’
