EAL teacher 0.5 - Windmill - L.E.A.D. Academy Trust

English as an Additional Language Teacher 0.5 - Windmill

Closing date: 15/06/2017
Salary: £ Main Scale

Job description:

Windmill L.E.A.D. Academy is a vibrant inner city school that was graded ‘Good’ in its last Ofsted inspection in January 2015. There have been recent senior leadership changes and the school is embarking on a new era with great positivity and determination to move the school forward. Windmill is a vibrant multi-cultural inner city school with a dedicated team who are working tirelessly to improve the outcomes of children.

The school is undergoing a huge refurbishment plan which will see a complete remodelling of the front of the school and a superb modern interior with state of the art classrooms and enhanced teaching facilities. The school benefits immensely from being a member of a very forward looking and inclusive Trust where children can take part in STEM days, Bushcraft experiences and performing arts days which bring schools across the Trust together. Teachers throughout the Trust work in partnership and Windmill particularly works closely with Huntingdon Academy in St Ann’s.

This post would suit someone who can work on their own initiative and has knowledge of how children learn an additional language. They will be supported with a full-time bi-lingual teaching assistant and there will also be an experienced EAL teacher one day a week to help set up this new specialised provision in the school during the autumn term. Teaching experience in the inner city would be beneficial.  High expectations, determination and a passion for making a difference to the life choices for inner city children are strong prerequisites of the post.

The position will start for September 2017 but could start earlier if possible.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has high expectations of pupil progress;
  • is passionate about education and developing a love of learning in children;
  • has the skills to work collaboratively with the teaching team
  • can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents;
  • is willing to embrace or bring new ideas to the school;
  • a commitment to developing their own skills.

In return, the successful candidate will:

  • be joining a strong and dynamic team of professionals;
  • work in a school with high aspirations for all of its pupils and staff;
  • have access to the L.E.A.D. Urban Teaching School Alliance’s professional development programme;
  • be provided with excellent career opportunities.

Windmill L.E.A.D. Academy is part of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust which is a registered charity created in 2011.  The Trust aims, through outstanding leadership, to provide the highest quality education to enable every pupil to realise their full potential.  Further information about the Trust can be found here http://www.leadacademytrust.co.uk/about-us

This is a superb opportunity to develop and progress professionally and to impact upon children’s learning.

The L.E.A.D. Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Visits to the school warmly welcomed. Please ring 0115 915 0195.

To apply, please contact the academy directly.
