Contract Type: Permanent

Working hours: Full time 37 hours per week. 52 weeks per annum or Term Time + 2 weeks.

Location: The Ropewalk Nottingham, will some travel to our schools in the east midlands

Closing date: Wednesday 5th February at 9am

We are looking for a Head of Governance to lead and manage the strategic development and implementation of Trust governance arrangements. You will lead the Governance Team and ensure that governance meets the standards required by the Trust including all statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • The strategic management of all governance and policy compliance objectives throughout the Trust
  • Ensuring that Trust Governance procedures, the requirements of the Governance Handbook, Trust code of conduct and AGB terms of reference are embedded across the Trust
  • Ensuring effective procedures and systems link the various layers of governance – local, regional and MAT Board/Trustee – so that information flows efficiently both ways
  • Managing the Trust clerking service and acting as Clerk to the Board, Executive Management Team and Members Board
  • Leading the recruitment strategy of AGB members, and Trustees, including advice to Heads and others regarding the AGB member appointment/election process
  • Defining and supporting the delivery of a professional annual programme of training and development for all tiers of governance, including for specialist AGB panels

To be successful, you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • High level report writing skills, agenda preparation and minute writing skills
  • In depth knowledge of safeguarding best practices and legislation
  • Knowledge of educational legislation, guidance & legal requirements
  • The ability to use MS Office programs and be familiar with other bespoke databases
  • Minimum of A-level or equivalent education
  • Access to own transport and the ability to travel around the east midlands
