Professional Development

We provide excellent training and development opportunities for all Trust staff so that they can lead and empower our pupils to achieve. A full induction programme is provided for any new starters and targeted individual development is mapped through the Trust’s annual appraisal scheme. All Trust colleagues have access to the National College platform for on-demand, virtual professional development.

DfE-accredited CPD is on offer to colleagues across the Trust, delivered through the L.E.A.D. Teaching School Hub in Lincolnshire. Alongside this, Trust schools can draw on high-quality, research-informed professional development through L.E.A.D. Equate. Each year, a comprehensive CPD offer is devised to respond to the needs and interests of the Trust’s schools and staff. In the 2022-23 academic year, colleagues accessed CPD delivered by Alex Quigley, Kate Jones, and Chris Quigley.

Trust schools are also able to draw on our Leaders of Excellence for bespoke support. These expert colleagues relish the chance to work collaboratively across Trust schools. For example, headteachers can book a Leader of Excellence to conduct an in-school audit or to deliver a series of bespoke CPD sessions.

Face-to-face training takes place locally - at our Leicester, Sheffield, and Nottingham training facilities - or at our excellent Teaching School Hub in Lincoln. Several courses are also held online.

The Golden Thread of Teaching Progression

Internal development is a crucial part of our vision, and every member of teaching staff across the Trust has a clear development pathway, following our ‘Golden Thread’ of teaching progression.

Professional development is supported through a close relationship with the L.E.A.D. Teaching School Hub.

Supporting Learning

In addition to teaching positions, there is also a wide range of opportunities in support roles at our central office, or within our academies. Our commitment to the professional development of support staff matches that for teaching and leadership positions. Through CPD, coaching, regular forums and apprenticeship opportunities, we develop, nurture and support staff in all roles.
